The Ride to Conquer Cancer 2012

The Ride to Conquer Cancer announced 1,609 riders raised over $6.2 million for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre as the first annual Ride commenced on Saturday in Melbourne. Ride participants cycled over 200 km through Victoria with an overnight camp in Healesville before returning to Melbourne for an emotional finish on Sunday.

The staff at EEMS Technologies have experienced first-hand the debilitating effects of cancer, with our Director battling blood cancer for the past 7 years, it was with this in mind, we developed a team (the bloodshots) of young -ish to middle-age –ish crew to ride the 2012, 200k ‘conquer cancer’ fund raising event.

We all trained for several months, riding most weekends and peddling many kilometres.
In addition to the physical training, we approached a number of friends, families and corporate associates to donate, the results were over whelming as you can see from our team total, this also contributed to the total event raising a staggering $6.2 million.

Our thanks goes out to all our sponsors for your generous donations, and a special thanks to our Managing Director – Murray Fairclough , although due to his ill health was unable to ride with us, he travelled every step of the way, taking photo’s, carrying our supplies and proudly waiting for us at the finish line.

Extra special thanks to Damien White for waiting so long at the finish line for the others.
